James King joined Miel & Carr, PLC as an associate trial lawyer in 2010. Mr. King is a  a graduate of Greenville High School and Grand Valley State University.  Mr. King obtained his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley  Law School in Grand Rapids, graduating Cum Laude.

He completed his first of two law school externships with the Honorable Janet T. Neff,  United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Michigan.  He also participated in the Kent County Public Defender Clinic, representing people in contempt proceedings in Kent County courts.  He is admitted to practice law in all Michigan state courts.

Mr. King is a member of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan and has graduated from the CDAM Trial College where he learned to employ the latest techniques in story telling and advanced trial practice techniques.  He has engaged in continuing legal education, such as the 2010 ICLE Drunk Driving Defense Update and the CDAM Advanced Trial Practice Seminar.

Mr. King focuses his practice on criminal defense trial work. He is available to consult on matters ranging from misdemeanor traffic offenses to serious felony charges.
